Skiing at Keystone
|
| Keystone is an excellent destination for families interested in serious Colorado skiing. Every skill level is catered to. Keystone's skiing sprawls over 1,800 acres on three mountains. Keystone Mountain front side is widely known for its variety of broad trails. The adventurous charge on to North Peak for superior cruising and moguling. The Outback features long-lasting powder and gliding among open trees. The Outback is, well, 'out back' - 3 major lift rides from civilization. |
| Trail maps and camera tours of the 3 Keystone mountains
may give you a closer idea. We've created some
links to appropriate sites on the Web.
Keystone has moved up to #8 in Ski Magazine's Top 60 in North America and is the only resort to medal in all 16 categories. Keystone also boasts the largest night skiing operation in North America. |

At Keystone, even 'no snow' means
plenty of skiing. Keystone starts making snow in September.
'Snow flurries in the central Rockies' typically means at least
an inch or two of fresh powder on top of a solid base. By May, Keystone
will have received an average of 230" of snow.
From Tenderfoot Lodge it's literally easier to walk to the lifts
than move your car. A pedestrians-only walkway and bridge
across the Snake River facilitate a 200 yard walk that is away from any
vehicular traffic. bottom of Keystone Mtn

| Your 19-year-old says Keystone Mountain's 'diamonds' aren't tough
enough? Take the shuttle (free) 5 miles to Arapahoe Basin (same lift
ticket). A-Basin has been a magnet for expert skiers for forty
years. And A-Basin has the longest skiing season in Colorado.
A-Basin has no lodging facilities of its own, so Keystone is your closest
overnight.
The Keystone complex of 4 mountains offers excellent skiing at all levels of difficulty. And every family member can determine their level by trying them all! The slopes at Keystone, Breckenridge and A-Basin are operated by the same people who operate Vail. The lift tickets are valid for all three Summit Co. locales. |
