Canoeing & Kayaking in Summit County

alone on Lake Dillon
Summit County is composed of the headwaters of the Blue River, including the Upper Blue, the Snake, the Swan, and Tenmile Creek.  All are eminently accessible for putting in and taking out.

The Blue River, Lake Dillon and Green Mountain Reservoir are prime waters for canoeists.  The Snake River from above Keystone to Lake Dillon runs deep enough during the summer for canoeing action without serious hazard.

Kayakers also know their depth. The accessible waters of Summit County offer many opportunities and no totally impassable drops.  From the Tenderfoot Lodge area, try Peru Creek or anything on the Snake.

Canoes, kayaks, and sea kayaks can be rented at Dillon Marina (970-468-5100) or Frisco Marina.
