    Mohawk Lakes Trail

The trail to the Mohawk Lakes offers waterfalls, mining ghosts, wildflowers, and glacial tarns.

The Continental Falls spill over glacially-carved rock in a series of chutes totally about 400'. Numerous ledges give photographers an unrivalled chance.

The trail also climbs through the ruined log cabins and scattered remains of the Mayflower Mines.

The Mohawk Lakes lie at the upper end of Spruce Creek. The Spruce Creek trail follows the creek from a trailhead on CR 800 about 1 mi. in from CO 9.

Beyond this trailhead a rough, and roughly parallel, 4WD road can be followed at least as far as the Wheeler trail crossing to make Mohawk Lakes a shorter hike.

It is best to have a hiking map of this area as old logging roads, mining tracks, and water diversion structures abound.
