    McCullough Gulch Trail

McCullough Gulch offers a flexible visit to a variety of high mountain sights.

A short hike covers subalpine forest, wildflowers, even a working mine.

A longer hike ventures into icy cascades and glacier-bared bedrock in the shadow of Quandary Peak high above.

In the best weather, McCullough Gulch can be followed to its origin in a high glacial cirque complete with numerous tarns.

McCullough Gulch is easily reached by 2WD vehicles. Follow CO 9 south from Breckenridge for 8mi. At one of the switchbacks in Hoosier Pass turn right onto the Blue Lakes Rd (CR 850) and right again onto the McCullough Gulch Rd (CR 851). After 2 mi., a small parking lot marks the end of the driving.

The trail starts as a jeep track to an active mining claim. Wind around it on the official foot path.
