The Chihuahua Lake Trail is a reasonably strenuous hike 3 miles each
way and 1,700 feet elevation gain. This glacial tarn is scooped
out of the side of Grizzly Peak. The approach along Chihuahua Gulch
is right under Grays Peak and Torreys Peak, the two highest points on
the Continental Divide. The beaver ponds and vista to the south
make the trip worhwhile even if the journey all the way to the lake proves
a journey too far. The trail is easy to follow until the rough
scramble up a talus slide right before the lake.
