Rock Creek - Boss Mine Trail |
| The Rock Creek trail is a simple hike into one of the scenic vales
of the Gore Range. The usual destination is the Boss Mine, now a large
scar of tailing piles on the side of Keller Mountain. The Boss Mine
and its neighbors were an 1880's silver strike. The occasional streaks
of blue in the discarded rocks, however, are probably azurite, a copper
mineral.
This 1.5 mi trail follows an old mining road. It passes through the Alfred M. Bailey Bird Nesting Area in the Eagle's Nest Wilderness. |
